Helen, GA has the ambience of a Bavarian Village with cobblestone alleys and old-world towers. Winding along the Chattahoochee River in the Blue Ridge Mountains, this Northeast Georgia town has a rich history dating back to the Cherokee Indians and their burial mounds, and early settlers who mined for gold and cut virgin timber. Helen, hosts an annual Octoberfest (the nation's longest) and draws over one hundred thousand tourists beginning mid September and continuing through the end of October. Other events and festivals occur throughout the year. A small, remote mountain community with mountain heritage and a touch of Bavaria, Helen has created a unique experience for its visitor.
